My fitness journey started about 8 years ago, unfortunately after receiving not-so-good news about my health – a diagnosis of high blood pressure. Some may think that’s not a big deal but it was a blow to me as I had already known I was predisposed to that and so much more because of my family health history. I felt like I was too young to be dealing with such issues so soon or even at all. I decided I had to make a change. I started working out, making better food choices, and I got a trainer. I was able to completely get off of blood pressure medicine and I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been. Soon after beginning, I quickly realized I had developed a passion for everything fitness. So I began to educate myself on strength training, nutrition, supplements, and ultimately recieved my NASM personal trainer certification. Outside of the physical changes, working out became therapuetic for me – mentally, emotionally, etc. I always tell my clients, this journey will not work until you find your ‘WHY’. My ‘WHY’ was and is my daughter. I had to make a decision to be here for her, not just me. So I encourage you to find your ‘WHY’ and keep that at the forefront. The choice of a healthy lifestyle won’t be easy and it is difficult sometimes — but as my motto says, it’s not about the destination but moreso about the journey to it – your ‘WHY’!
